Freaky Friday 2 Is Closer Than Ever As Disney Picks Welcome to Chippendale’s Nisha Ganatra to Direct
Freaky Friday 2 looks to be closer than ever as Disney has picked Welcome to Chippendale’s Nisha Ganatra to direct the sequel to the classic body-swapping comedy from 2003 that starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. And yes, the two leading ladies are in talks to return is well.
As reported by THR, Freaky Friday 2 is looking to begin shooting this summer in Los Angeles and will (hopefully!) reunite Curtis and Lohan after they both have been wishing for this for so long. In early March, Lohan shared that she was so “excited” to work with Curtis again and that the sequel “is happening.”
As for Ganatra, she also previously directed such films as The High Note and Late Night and episodes from such shows as Fresh off the Boat, Dear White People, Girls, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Mr. Robot, and Shameless.

So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma who’s still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon.” It remains to be seen if this is the story that will end up on screen, however!
In celebration of this news, Curtis even took to Instagram with an image of her and Lohan and the caption, “DUH! FFDEUX! @disney @disneystudios.”
The original Freaky Friday is an adaptation of Mary Rodgers 1972 novel of the same name and earned $160 million worldwide on a budget of only $26 million. While many probably wish a sequel didn’t take this long, the wait appears to be almost over.
