SET! – DJOKOVIC 6-1 CERUNDOLO

The World Number One serves out a 40-minute opener via the scenic route to cook up an early evening breadstick.

The Serb was cruising at 40-15 but threw in a pair of awful droppers to give the Argentine something to fight for from deuce.

Cerundolo chalked up two break points but in the end Djokovic finally got it done on his fourth attempt with a wonderful half volley off a switch-up S+V.

BREAK! – DJOKOVIC 5-1 CERUNDOLO

On Eurosport Comms John McEnroe points out that Francisco’s level has been nowhere near where it needs to be ever since he missed that chance to break.

He thinks the Argentine is still thinking about it.

If so, dwelling on the past costs him BIGTIME as Nole swoops into the net to glide a crosscourt pick-up and snare the double break.

DJOKOVIC 4-1 CERUNDOLO

The World No.1 makes quick work of consolidating as he slaps a big serve down the T to ease through a game for the loss of one point.

BREAK! – DJOKOVIC 3-1 CERUNDOLO

That was almost inevitable.

Cerundolo is far from solid despite a sizzling crosscourt forehand to make 30-30 – and he pays the price.

The famed Djoker defence is there for all to see and he makes the Argentine play another mid-court forehand on break point that he should nail – but he doesn’t. It drills into the net and suddenly those missed opportunities in Game 3 seem even more significant for the South American.

Djokovic wins opening point against Cerundolo after 3am finish in last round

DJOKOVIC 2-1 CERUNDOLO

That was a real opportunity for Cerundolo and he may live to regret it.

Djokovic lacks some intensity and coughs up two early break points.

The Argentine tries to press but clips the tape with a forehand that would surely have secured it.

After that he can’t produce anything special and Nole is rock-solid to grind out the hold from deuce.

ALEX DE MINAUR IS FIRST AUSSIE MAN IN 20 YEARS INTO QTRS IN PARIS WITH MEDVEDEV UPSET

GAME, SET AND MATCH! – MEDVEDEV 6-4 2-6 1-6 3-6 DE MINAUR

De Minaur completes the upset!

Medvedev was way below his best and was quite possibly hindered by a right foot problem as he double faults on match point to hand victory to the Aussie in two hours and 49 minutes.

The No.11 seed will meet Alexander Zverev or Holger Rune in the last eight.

‘One of the points of the championship’ – De Minaur and Medvedev wow fans

DJOKOVIC 1-1 CERUNDOLO

Francisco is playing in what is surely one of the biggest matches of his life to-date.

He’s looking good at 30-0 but double faults to give Nole a look-in.

The Argentine’s nerve is tested but he produces a lovely settler with an excellent winner to get on the board.

MEDVEDEV 6-4 2-6 1-6 3-5 DE MINAUR

The No.5 seed is in big trouble now.

De Minaur did well to keep the Russian at bay as he enjoyed a brief lift in intensity, but when it drops again the Aiussie strokes, knocking away a forehand winner on his way to what could be a vital break.

The No.11 seed consolidates this time, rampaging through to love and he’s now one game away from the last eight.

Medvedev had ‘no business’ winning incredible point against De Minaur

DJOKOVIC 1-0 CERUNDOLO

Does Nole look fatigued and sluggish after his late/early finish last time out?

Don’t be silly. The Serb rushes through a clean hold to make an early statement of intent.

SHOW TIME ON CHATRIER

Djokovci will serve first in his first meeting with the Argentine.

A success here would see the Serb notch up his 370th victory at a major, which would see him make the sole leader for most Grand Slam match won in history (currently tied with Roger Federer at 369).

MEDVEDEV 6-4 2-6 1-6 3-3 DE MINAUR

Medvedev lands a seventh ace and a couple of winners as he suddenly fires through De Minaur.

The Aussie can feel that pendulum leaning away from him and drags it back at 15-30 as he lands a forehand winner and an ace of his own to level up once more.

‘Too late!’ – De Minaur NOT happy as Medvedev gets controversial call in his favour

MEDVEDEV 6-4 2-6 1-6 2-2 DE MINAUR

It feels like Medvedev has re-engaged and summoned up some extra reserves from somewhere. The Russian nudges the board as a sixth ace claims a hold to 30, but De Minaur isn’t ready to give up the momentum and retorts with a strong hold to 15.

IT’S DJOKER TIME!

The World No.1 is about to head on to court on Chatrier for his round four meeting with Francisco Cerundolo.

‘That’s why I’m here’ – Djokovic on hunt for more majors, pays tribute to ‘greatest rival’ Nadal

MEDVEDEV 6-4 2-6 1-6 1-1 DE MINAUR

De Minaur’s speed is something to behold as he rampages in to pick-up a dropper and rifle away a crosscourt forehand winner to snare an instant break point.

Medvedev rallies hard but is forced to rush a horrible, ballooned miscue long off a fizzed, low approach shot and it’s the Aussie who takes charge.

The Demon can’t consolidate as Med wins a gruelling 30-shot rally to tee up two break back points and the No.11 seed blinks on the first with a wild forehand long.

SET! – MEDVEDEV 6-4 2-6 1-6 DE MINAUR

Medvedev looks strangely resigned. The Russian can often get agitated and react maniacally when things aren’t going his way, but he is rather passive as the errors leak off his strings.

He offers little resistance in coughing up the double break and De Minaur takes full advantage by serving out the breadstick to 15.

MEDVEDEV 6-4 2-6 1-4 DE MINAUR

‘Allez, Daniil, allez!’ – is the shout from Med’s coach Gilles Cervara as he tries to rally his man into action.

It seems to do the trick as he stops the rot against him with a much-needed reset hold to 15.

De Minaur just about refuses to allow him to gain any momentum, however, luring an error wide at 30-30 and holding via a timely, big first serve.

MEDVEDEV 6-4 2-6 0-3 DE MINAUR

It’s one-way traffic right now.

De Minaur opens with a simple hold to 15 and then hounds Medvedev into a series of mistakes.

The clear-thinking that saw the Russian stave off countless dangerous moments in the first set and a half has gone and it’s all too easy as the Aussie breaks from deuce on his second chance.

The Demon demonstrates rapid feet and some awesome reflexes to block away a body shot at the net from a pick-up and goes on to consolidate to 15.

It’s SEVEN games in a row for the No.11 seed and Daniil seems a bit lost at present.
