This weekend will see the return of one of the biggest tournaments in fighting games, Frosty Faustings XVI. The Lombard based tournament series is back for another instalment! What’s different about this years’ event though?

Frosty Faustings XVI is one of the bigger events on the horizon for fighting games right now. The series is going to feature tournaments for quite a few of the top fighters, including some brand-new ones. A lot of these games have reached new records for registrations.

After a huge 2023, there are more eyes than ever on events like Frausty Faustings 2024. Compared to previous years’ events, we’re going to be seeing some of the most popular games of the year getting played. Frosty Faultings 2024 clearly has tons of the biggest fighting games. How will each tournament work though? All of that is taking place over a few days, from January 25 to 28th. It has a lot of tournaments, but they each have the same format. We’re seeing opening pools rounds followed by a final bracket.

A few of the tournaments here definitely stand out too. The Arc World Tour and SNK World Championship are both impressive 2024 circuits that are nearly concluded. Frosty Faustings is going to contribute to both of these, with players qualifying. If you’ve been watching the opening tournaments for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising this event is going to be particularly exciting!

Frosty Faustings XVI Sees Huge Registration Numbers
The February Frosty Faustings XVI tournament features quite a few of the biggest fighting games. We’ve seen a few of these lead the way in registrations so far. At the absolute top of the list are both Guilty Gear Strive and Street Fighter 6. Street Fighter dominating sign-ups has been the case for pretty much all tournaments since the game was released. However, Guilty Gear Strive is definitely a bit more surprising. It’s great to see so much engagement still going on with Guilty Gear.

Just below those two, we get to two games receiving some of their first tournaments. Under Night In-Birth 2 has hit more than 450 sign-ups for a tournament taking place around its release date. GranBlue Fantasy Versus Rising is up there too, with more than 400, no doubt bolstered by its Arc World Tour status.

These numbers are a great showing of how many people are getting involved in fighting game esports at the moment.
