Genius Sports Brings Xbox Visionary as Independent Board of Directors
Welcoming Robbie Bach, a former Xbox boss, Genius Sports is looking to tap into the visionary’s ability to steer companies towards success.
Genius Sports Taps Console Game System Visionary as Director
Although his experience may be disparate to the specific industry he is now going to work in as part of the Board of Directors, Genius Sports feels confident that the man’s 22 years with Microsoft have honed his skills and will allow him to translate this experience into the company’s own specific needs.
Bach is himself a laudatory person who made it possible for Xbox to not only break on the market but to establish itself as a definitive competitor in the console sector, giving PlayStation and Nintendo a good run for their money, and easily becoming a preferred gaming system.
He oversaw the launch of the Xbox Live online service and pushed Xbox 360 in 2005, while working on other products within Microsoft, such as the Windows Phone and iPod, and although not all of those succeeded, he is generally the driving force behind the projects he has worked with.
Bach welcomed the opportunity to join Genius Sports’ Board of Directors which already includes a select list of excellent industry names. Commenting on his appointment, he said:
“I am excited to have this opportunity to collaborate with such a talented and visionary team and I look forward to supporting Genius’ continued success and innovation.”
He is not alone in showing enthusiasm about arriving at Genius Sports, with Genius Sports CEO Mark Locke expressing a similar sentiment. The executive added:
“I know his proven expertise in driving consumer-focused innovation in the technology and entertainment industries will be an invaluable asset.
This level of insight and expertise will undoubtedly help accelerate our efforts to revolutionise how sports content is understood, consumed and experienced globally.”
Genius Sports Business Model Focuses on Advertisement, Streaming and More
Genius Sports has been building its clout meticulously, with the company recently teaming with Elon Musk’s X social media platform to help boost ad revenue, using the former’s cutting-edge solution, Trend Genius.
Elsewhere, Genius Sports has had a bit of a tough luck as PANDA Interactive has been fighting a legal battle against Genius Sports and fellow tech giant Sportradar, over allegedly breaching patents related to the plaintiff’s interactive streaming technology.
