Skye Nicolson dethroned as Tiara Brown spoils homecoming(97-93, 96-94, 94-96)
Nicolson’s homecoming world title defence didn’t go according to plan, dropping a split points decision to American challenger Brown in Sydney on Saturday.
The Australian southpaw was the clear fan favourite but it didn’t bother Brown, who made good on her word to take the fight to Nicolson and rough up the undefeated champion.
Brown was successful in closing the distance on the champion and negating her skills at range.
Nicolson had some bright moments but can have no arguments with the decision.
9:32pm: Halfway through the 10 rounds in Nicolson vs. Brown and it couldn’t be much tighter. The WBC featherweight title is anyone’s at the moment.

Teremoana dropped his man around a minute in, before referee Ignatius Missailidis saved the Fijian from more damage after some more heavy shots.
Cherneka Johnson retains world title with R7 TKOWhile their first fight may have had some controversy, there was no doubt the second time around as Johnson scored a seventh-round TKO victory over Hughes after the English fighter’s corner threw the towel in. “Neekz” had answers for whatever Hughes brought, including a clinch-heavy strategy, and retained her WBA bantamweight title in style.
8:20pm: Four rounds in the bank in this championship bout and it’s going to plan for Johnson so far. The Aussie is throwing the far more accurate shots and has bloodied Hughes’ nose.

Imam Khataev defeats Durval Palacio via brutal UD(99-89 x2, 98-90)
Incredible durability on display from both men but particularly Palacio who walked through some massive head shots and a savage body assault to fight through to the final bell and was probably unlucky to not be rewarded with closer scorecards. Khataev improves to 10-0 but gets taken the distance for the first time.
7:30pm: Five rounds down in Khataev vs. Palacio and it’s been willing. Khataev dropped his man in the fourth but is wearing some heavy swelling over his left eye.
