Georgia Bulldogs under scrutiny again after two football players arrested

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart received some bad news over the past week when he learned that two of his football players had been arrested.

Offensive lineman Jahzare Jackson was arrested last week on multiple drug charges. According to the Athens Banner Herald, Jackson was arrested for felony possession of marijuana of more than one ounce.

Jackson, who was arrested last Wednesday, was released on a $5,000 bond. He played sparingly for the team last year but was expected to contribute a lot this upcoming season.

Then news hit that 2026 recruit Seven Cloud was arrested on domestic battery charges a few months ago, according to the Butler County Times-Gazette, and was in court July 14th.

The report states: “On April 20, Butler County Sheriff’s office were called where Cloud was arrested after an altercation with his significant other,” the paper wrote. He bonded out after the police alleged Cloud did knowingly cause physical contact with another person, in a rude, angry or insulting manner.”

This is not the first time Cloud had been in trouble for domestic violence, just the latest. He was charged back in March for destroying his partner’s cell phone.

Cloud returns to court on September 22.

Smart and his football team have come under scrutiny over the years because of the number of arrests during his time as Georgia’s head football coach. Under Smart, there have been almost 30 football players arrested.

What’s more disturbing is that Smart has yet to release a statement on either player and the status for both, especially Cloud, who was involved in two domestic violence incidents, hasn’t had his scholarship offer withdrawn.

Smart has been able to basically slide because the Bulldogs keep winning. But you wonder how much longer will the Georgia administration will continue to turn the other cheek if this continues to happen.
