Gervonta Davis Exposes the Truth About Floyd Mayweather’s Gift: “He Didn’t Buy Me a House”
At one point in time, many believed that Gervonta Davis was the indomitable prodigy of Floyd Mayweather. Such assumptions were rooted in how close the former welterweight champion and ‘Tank’ were. One such rumor among these stories was that Mayweather gifted Tank a house. Years later, when the rumor still found its way on social media, the young fighter broke his silence on these reports.
2 years after he turned pro, Tank signed with Mayweather Promotions. After reaching a significant position in his career, assuming the status of a leading boxer, the two boxing entities drifted apart in 2020. In the beginning, they underscored how cordial this split was. However, over the years, some cracks have come to light. Now, as he tried to clarify if Mayweather brought him a house or not, Davis threw light at these cracks.

On X, a fan nudged the 29-year-old fighter to return all the money over to Mayweather that he had spent to get Tank a house. With this demand, the fan also gave context as to when ‘Money’ had purchased the property for the fighter. Before being the new face of boxing, Gervonta Davis didn’t have a home himself. It is in this context that a fan decided to take a dig at Tank. In the post, they wrote, “Go give Floyd his money back for the house he bought you when you was sofa surfing and you sold it you bum…” In response, the fighter clarified, “Lol, he didn’t buy me a house you damn fool.”

It all started earlier yesterday after Davis, in an Instagram story, claimed that Floyd Mayweather was being held in Dubai and he wasn’t allowed to leave. The fighter has been in the UAE for quite a while now. Further airing these rumors, Tank alleged that Mayweather was stuck in Dubai in light of all the money he owed to people there. While replying to a fan who questioned this claim of his asking if the 47-year-old fighter was truly “held hostage,” he replied on the microblogging site, saying, “He gotta pay them people that money back..if I’m lying tell him to go live rn…”

An ardent fan of Mayweather then took shots at Davis, for turning on the legendary boxer after accepting favors from him that included the supposed house. It is to this post that Tank responded with his revelation. While he’s denying that he received a house from Mayweather, there are other gifts he’s received from the fighter.
The things Floyd Mayweather got TankA few years ago, in a conversation with DJ VLAD, the Baltimore native was quizzed about his relationship with ‘Pretty Boy’ even before he signed with the latter’s promotions. In response, the fighter revealed that even before their promotional deal was inked on paper, he was furnished with lavish gifts. He noted, “Uh, no I asked [was] what [Floyd] for the whole summer before I signed with him you know before I even you know signed anything on paper he already bought me cars, he bought me jewelry and things like that.”

Despite their on-and-off rocky relationship after their split, Tank has been on the receiving end of good advice from Mayweather Promotions. In his last year’s fight against Ryan Garcia, Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, acted as Gervonta Davis’ advisor. Mayweather also joined the fight night to cheer for Tank. Post the fight, after Davis had registered a groundbreaking win, the two of them left together as well.
