Getafe eye Umar Sadiq as potential replacement for Premier League-bound Christantus Uche
Getafe are eyeing Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq as a key transfer target this summer, with the Real Sociedad forward emerging as a potential replacement for the outgoing Christantus Uche, Soccernet.ng reports.
With Uche on the verge of a €20 million move to the Premier League after a standout season, the Madrid-based club are keen to bolster their frontline and see Sadiq as an ideal candidate to fill the void, according to TodoFichajes.
The 28-year-old forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia, where he played a pivotal role in helping the club avoid relegation.

Sadiq’s parent club, Real Sociedad, are open to parting ways with the striker. Despite a €20 million investment in 2022 following a successful spell at AlmerÃa, his time in San Sebastián has been largely underwhelming.
Persistent injuries and limited opportunities saw him manage just 482 minutes of action in La Liga last season without scoring, prompting a mid-season loan switch to Valencia.

Although Sadiq impressed at Mestalla, Valencia opted not to trigger their purchase clause, citing financial constraints. With no future under new Sociedad coach Sergio Francisco, the Basque side are actively exploring options for another loan move, preferably with an option to buy.
Getafe had previously shown interest in Sadiq during the January transfer window but lost out to Valencia. However, with their pathway now clear and a striker vacancy looming, they have revived their pursuit. Reports suggest the club’s hierarchy view Sadiq as a player capable of bringing physicality, movement, and goals to their attack.

One stumbling block in past negotiations was Sociedad’s insistence on a mandatory buy clause, something Getafe were reluctant to agree to. This time, both parties are said to be more flexible, raising hopes that a compromise can be reached.
Sadiq, who has 10 caps for Nigeria, is understood to be open to a fresh start in La Liga — especially at a club willing to offer him regular minutes and a central role.
If the deal materialises, it could signify a crucial turning point in the striker’s career and hand Getafe a proven talent with unfinished business in Spain’s top flight.
