GiG Platform Adds Andreas Söneby to Board of Directors
Gaming Innovation Group has strengthened the leadership of its Platform division with the appointment of Andreas Söneby as a board member. Söneby boasts years of gaming industry experience and has spent over a decade at Kambi.
Söneby Is an Important Addition to the Team
Söneby will reinforce the GiG Platform board team, underpinning its continued growth and innovation efforts. Lauded as a valuable addition to the board of directors, the new hire brings in years of industry experience.
Boasting an impressive track record, Söneby is a gaming and tech veteran who has previously served the likes of Kambi and Unibet. He joined the latter company as chief technology officer in 2006 and was appointed as chief information officer of Kambi in 2021.
Söneby spent a decade at Kambi, after which he was appointed as White Hat Gaming’s chief executive officer. Following a several-month tenure as the provider’s CEO, he had short stints with the likes of Instabox and Instabee. He was later appointed as a venture partner at Industrifonden.
As a board member, Söneby will replace the outgoing Tomasz Juroszek.
GiG chair Petter Nylander welcomed Söneby on board, praising him as an experienced industry veteran whose experience would be invaluable to the company. Nylander lauded the appointee’s impressive track record, saying that it would be instrumental to the strengthening of the company as a leading player in the gaming industry.
This new appointment comes ahead of GiG’s strategic split into GiG Platform and Gentoo Media. It also comes a month after the latter division named Christian Uhrenholt as its new chief financial officer.
GiG Is Set to Split in Two
As mentioned, GiG is set to split into two separate entities very soon. This change has been several months in the making and will herald a new era for GiG Platform and Gentoo Media, formerly known as GiG Media.
Speaking of GiG, the company just published its financial results for the second quarter of the year, highlighting record-breaking performance for the Media division. Gentoo Media has been faring well, signing multiple important M&A deals that have cemented it as an affiliate leader.
The Platform division, meanwhile, posted mixed results despite signing important new agreements.
