Gilbert Burns breaks his silence after getting knocked out in fourth straight loss at UFC Vegas 106

Gilbert Burns has issued a statement on social media following his latest UFC loss.

The former welterweight title challenger went into his UFC Vegas 106 main event matchup with Michael Morales in desperate need of a win after suffering three consecutive defeats against the 170lb division’s best fighters.

‘Durinho’ was outpointed by Sean Brady, KO’d by Jack Della Maddalena, and dominated by Belal Muhammad before accepting an apparent step down in opposition to face the undefeated rising star from Ecuador.

Michael Morales made the toughest test of his career look easy as he improved to 18-0 by stopping Gilbert Burns with strikes inside one round.

However, Burns didn’t do that after getting wiped out by Morales in devastating fashion.

The 38-year-old kept it classy when he broke his silence on social media the day after UFC Vegas 106.

“Thankful for this journey! I’m still super blessed,” Burns wrote on Instagram.

“Of course wasn’t the outcome I was looking forward to l, especially for this one I worked extremely hard, who saw, saw, but it’s the fight game and it’s life!

“Congrats to @miichaelufc wishing you and your team all the success! That is it no sad stories! Grateful for this beautiful journey and for all the lessons!

“God is good all the time! All honors, praise, and glory are given to him in a win or defeat!”

It is currently unclear if Burns will fight again or if he’ll call time on his iconic UFC run.

What’s next for Michael Morales? The future is much brighter for Morales, who seems set to become a superstar in the next couple of years.

A win over Burns will most likely see the 25-year-old take his #8 spot when the welterweight rankings update on Tuesday.

170lb champion Jack Della Maddalena is expected to defend his belt against Islam Makhachev later this year.

After that, Shavkat Rakhmonov appears to be the next in line for a shot at welterweight gold.

So, Morales will have to beat one or two more contenders to make his title credentials undeniable.
