GOG Adds New Xbox Login Feature Ahead Of ROG Xbox Ally Launch
“We’re waiting for you”
We’ve heard Team Xbox talk quite a bit about the desire to support multiple storefronts via the Xbox PC app, especially when it comes to the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally handheld, and this new GOG feature is yet another example of that.
GOG, if you don’t know, is just another distribution platform where you can buy PC games, with the big focus of this one being on DRM-free titles. It’s a popular place for PC owners to pick up some bargains, and it’s just added the ability to log into your GOG account through Xbox, meaning you’re just “one click away” from buying games on there.
This was advertised by the GOG team on social media earlier today:
Now, as you may have seen in today’s Xbox August update, Xbox is currently testing a new feature on the Xbox PC app called “My Apps” in which you can conveniently access various utilities and storefronts at the click of a button without having to leave the app itself. This seems to be specifically targeted at ROG Xbox Ally users, as Microsoft doesn’t want to force you away from the device’s custom interface in order to access your native PC games.
In fact, the accompanying image that Xbox shared last week even included GOG front and centre.
So, by all means go and log into GOG with your Xbox account if you’re interested, and here’s hoping as many storefronts as possible make this a thing – it’s going to be very useful when it comes to buying games for the ROG Xbox Ally.
And really, even just for PC gaming in general, it’s always nice to see this option being offered to Xbox fans. You don’t have to use it, of course, but it should serve as a time-saver at the very least!
