Grand Hyatt Beijing Presents Their Indonesian Food Festival

Grant Hyatt Beijing has welcomed guest chefs from Jakarta to bring the unique culinary charm of Indonesia, with authentic delights to celebrate cultural exchange between China and Indonesia.

In collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China, Grand Hyatt Beijing is proud to present their Indonesian Food Festival which will run until July 23.

Known as the “Land of a Thousand Islands,” Indonesia is known for its rich spices and diverse culinary heritage that blends a number of influences to create its local recipes.

Deni and Chandra from Jakarta have crafted an exotic feast with an array of classic dishes including Beef Rendang, which is recognized by UNESCO as one of the “World’s Most Delicious Dishes,” featuring juicy and tender meat simmered slowly in aromatic spices.

Our favorite was the Nasi Goreng, which is Indonesia’s national fried rice dish. It is a wok-tossed to perfection and served with prawn crackers and a sunny-side-up egg.

We loved the thick, flavorful rice that has a sweet tinge to its mouthwatering salty flavor – we would have gone back for thirds if we weren’t so stuffed from all the delicious food on offer.

Another classic dish is the Gado-Gado – a refreshing vegetable salad drizzled with a savory peanut dressing. It has a unique mix of tofu, egg, a variety of greens, and the thick dressing ties it all together.

To finish off your gastronomic journey, there are Indonesian desserts like Kue Pandan and traditional herbal drinks such as Jamu, with ginger, turmeric, tamarind, and other spices.

The festival isn’t just limited to the food, The Balcony – Grand Hyatt’s Restaurant – is adorned with Indonesian- themed décor that transports the guests to the wonderful ambiance of Southeast Asia.

Don’t miss your chance to experience Indonesia right here in Beijing!
