The highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in fall 2025.

The narrowed window of the release date, previously defined only as the year 2025, was announced Thursday by publisher Take-Two Interactive.

“We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in a statement.

The news came as Take-Two posted losses of $2.9 billion for fiscal year 2024.

The trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI was published on Dec. 4 and has since garnered more than 190 million views.

Take-Two’s announcement counters industry rumors that delayed production could push the game’s release date back to 2026.

The latest edition of GTA has been anticipated for years. Grand Theft Auto V was initially released in September 2013.

Since then, GTA V has sold more than 200 million units, according to the company’s latest earnings report. That ranks it behind only Tetris and Minecraft as one of the best-selling games of all time, per IGN’s Rebekah Valentine.

Fans will have to wait longer to learn a more specific release date for GTA VI, but the projected fall release date lines up with other major Rockstar Games releases including GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 (first released October 2018.)
