Gungrave G.O.R.E. Is Getting a Full PS5 Remake Just 3 Years After Its Original Release

That’s one approach to bad reviews

How soon is too soon for a remake?

IGGYMOB believes enough time has passed between Gungrave G.O.R.E.’s 2022 release and this full-blown Blood Heat remake.

While a release date hasn’t been announced, the developer describes this as an Unreal Engine 5 upgrade on the gun-fu original, inheriting the “series’ essence while offering a new experience through evolution suited for modern hardware”.

You can obviously expect visual improvements, but the dev says it’s invested heavily into the flow of combat, its overall speed, and its animations. Gungrave G.O.R.E. wasn’t particularly well received, scoring a 4/10 in our Push Square review.

Here’s what the press release says:

“Gungrave G.O.R.E, which heralded the legendary gunslinger’s return, has been Full Rebuild and returns as Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat. The Gungrave series is a hard-boiled action shooter intellectual property that has been running since the early 2000s. It has been loved by many fans for its heavy gunfights, stylish direction, and the intense theme of ‘revenge beyond death’.”

It strikes us that the studio probably learned a lot from the development of the original game, and so has decided to start from scratch for this remake. Here’s hoping it can get the gameplay right this time.
