Heading for Old Trafford? Man United make contact over ‘surprise deal’ for Brighton ace
Manchester United allegedly make contact with the representatives of Brighton & Hove Albion defender Pervis Estupinan to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with the representatives of Brighton & Hove Albion defender Pervis Estupinan to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old arrived at Brighton from Villarreal in the summer of 2022, and he has represented the Seagulls on 104 occasions in all competitions, including 36 outings during the 2024-25 campaign.
Earlier this summer, Estupinan admitted that he was open to leaving the Amex during the summer market.
“The truth is there has been three years in Brighton with a lot of learning. But this will be a transfer market with a lot of movement. The club know that I would like to grow, that I would like to keep growing. The club have understood this,” the defender told El Canal Del Futbol.
“I’ve spoken to the club. The club have given me this bit of freedom to be able to make a decision. Now we will try to see better what is on the table and to see where we can go.”
Man United ‘make contact’ over move for Brighton’s EstupinanAccording to GIVEMESPORT, Man United have been in touch with the defender’s agents to discuss the possibility of moving to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.
Maxim De Cuyper’s arrival at Brighton allegedly means that the Seagulls are now open to letting Estupinan leave despite the fact that he has been a strong performer for the club since his arrival.
Estupinan has an impressive record of four goals and 11 assists in 84 Premier League appearances for Brighton, and Man United would not have to break the bank to sign him during the summer market.
Do Man United need to sign another left-back?Estupinan would be a strong addition to the Man United squad, but it is quite surprising that the Red Devils are allegedly looking to bring in another player in that area of the field.
Indeed, Patrick Dorgu was signed from Lecce in January, while Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Harry Amass and new signing Diego Leon are also options in that area of the field.
Should Estupinan arrive, that would give a clear indication on Leon’s immediate future despite the fact that the youngster recently said that he is not expecting to leave on loan next season.
Amass also needs regular football at this stage of his career, and a season away from Old Trafford, potentially in the Championship, would be hugely beneficial for the talented youngster.
Man United are still working on a deal for Bryan Mbeumo, although it is being claimed that Brentford have increased their asking price, stalling a move for the Cameroon international.
