Recap Of Javaughn Young-White’s Custody Case Against Kehlani
In the court docs, Javaughn alleges the famous mom is “mixed up with a cult,” per TMZ. He claims to fear for Adeya’s safety and is seeking full custody to intervene with how the singer is allegedly raising their child. Additionally, he claims that the mom of one has been preventing him from seeing Adeya.
The singer has yet to publicly comment on Javaughn Young-White’s court accusations. However, TMZ reports that the parents have been ordered to attend mediation. They are reportedly tasked with discussing visitation, custody, and a mutual parenting plan.
When & How Did The Parents Welcome Adeya Nomi?
As previously reported, Javaughn Young-White and Kehlani welcomed Adeya Nomi on March 23, 2019. Their first child together arrived in the singer’s bathroom at their home in an unmedicated birth. In a now-deleted post, they revealed it was the “hardest, most powerful thing” they’ve ever done.
Javie corroborated their narrative with a Twitter (now X) post. He added that he caught Adeya Nomi in his arms as Kehlani labored, standing up. Additionally, he said the experience was “the most beautiful moment” of his life, per PEOPLE.
Amid their pregnancy announcement, the singer had reportedly shared that they trusted Javie (their “best friend” and “amazing partner”) “with [their] body.”
What Was Javaughn’s Relationship With The Singer Before Having Adeya?
According to the same outlet, Javaughn, also known as Javie, was the singer’s guitarist and friend “for a very long time” before having Adeya.
Furthermore, they told Nicki Minaj on ‘Queen Radio’ in 2018 that the pregnancy was planned. The singer seemingly affirmed (after Nicki asked) that they had “lots of sex” because of the short window they had to get pregnant.
“…It was planned, so we definitely had to…we had a short time frame of having to like actually have sex every day, and we were just excited that it didn’t start feeling like it was a chore,” the singer said, adding that the sex was “fire.”
Additionally, Kehlani explained that their former relationship with a woman had ended before getting with Javaughn Young-White. They shared that they felt “lucky to find a partner who was a bisexual male.”
“He really understands my queerness and my solidity, and I really understand his, and we just really appreciate each other as human beings,” Kehlani said at the time.
Kehlani Called Him A “Really Close Friend In 2021”
Javaughn and they dated during the pregnancy, but multiple outlets, including PEOPLE and TMZ, reported that they split shortly after the singer gave birth.
In 2021, during a Facebook Watch special, Kehlani described an amicable relationship with their daughter’s father.
“Me and her dad are like really, really close friends, and the decision to start a family was really easy for us because we both believed in each other’s ability to be good parents,” they said on Facebook’s ‘Pride On! Kehlani & Larry’s Excellent Pride Ride.’
They added that as parents, they “focus on being a team.” When they told Javie they had “come to newer terms with [their] sexuality,” he was “super, super, super supportive,” the singer said.
Kehlani’s baby daddy, Javaughn Young-White, filed a petition for full custody of their daughter, claiming the singer’s alleged involvement with a cult could put their daughter at risk of sexual abuse. (TMZ) pic.twitter.com/jp5NoZfaHK
