“He’s So Slow”: Canelo Alvarez’s Combos in Recent POV Training Clip Fails to Impress Fans
A new video of Canelo Alvarez trying a particular combination seems to be fast-graining traction. talkSPORT‘s Michael Benson shared the clip on his X. The undisputed super middleweight champion is preparing hard for his upcoming title defense against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia. But how do the fans feel about the training clip? Die-hard fans must be feeling excited. However, among those who commented, there were a few who didn’t feel likewise.
The Alvarez-Munguia match takes place on May 4, the Cinco de Mayo weekend, at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The P4P great last fought and defeated Jermell Charlo during his third title defense. The Tijuana-born former light middleweight champion, on the other hand, forced an early stoppage on John Ryder later in January this year.

Michael Benson’s tweet read, “Canelo Alvarez showing a first-person POV of what Jaime Munguia will be facing on May 4th…” The clip begins with the world champion throwing a jab with the leading hand. It is followed by an uppercut (right) on a mitt held by a trainer. From the looks of it, it appears that the same person is also holding a punching bag tightly. So basically, Alvarez is working on two props simultaneously. The third punch is Alvarez’s now-well-known left hook to the body, here it being the punching back. Then a straight right to the mitt and finally a second left hook complete the combination.
Given their profiles, few expect the fight to go the whole distance. It could be a high-octane slugfest, with both boxers relying on trademark hits to stop the opponent.

Missed MarkOn expected grounds, fans appeared confident that their icon would take out Munguia pretty soon. However, some, as usual, took up the David Benavidez fight issue. Then a few could foresee some fault in Alvarez’s technique as well.
For instance, this user believes that Canelo Alvarez’s chances of victory on May 4 hang in the balance. Hence, if he is really keen on scoring a win, then he has to work harder in the gym instead of wasting time making videos.
This is a 50/50 fight Canelo has to work much harder in the gym if he wants to win and not record POV videos for twitter

Then, for the next follower, the clip stands irrelevant. First, he needs to close the argument with Benavidez. The Munguia fight will barely fetch any legacy honors.
no one cares. he gotta see Benavidez. he gets MINOR credit for/if he beats Mungia.

The next user seems convinced that Alvarez has gone a bit sluggish.
But then a fan believes an upper cut from the Mexican icon will find the connection to send Munguia down to the canvas.

Finally, this follower chided all those who doubted Canelo Alvarez’s skills in avoiding a left hook. According to them, he is a generational talent. Then the follower predicted that, despite all the excitement, the fight would come to an early end, with Canelo Alvarez forcing an early stoppage.
😂everyone in here trying to critique Canelo saying he’s open for a leg hook! Go in there and see if that left hook will be there! Canelo is truly a master at his craft! It’s going to be an exciting fight but Canelo will get the stoppage! Looking forward to it!

The video, as it appears, seems to have divided the users. The upcoming fight may not be as exciting as the Benavidez fight could have been. Nonetheless, given the sheer explosiveness and energy of the six-year-old junior Munguia, fans and followers can rest assured that there won’t be a dull moment in the fight.
But there remains a chance of Alvarez getting back to settle the business with Benavidez. The latter, in the meantime, as the chances of a fight with the Mexican icon became dim, took flight to the light heavyweight division. Reportedly, he has a fight scheduled for an interim title in the 176-pound weight class. If the fight makes it through to the ring, then it will be no doubt the biggest clash of modern-day boxing.
