How Belgium could line up against England

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Belgium could line up for Tuesday’s international friendly with England.

Belgium head coach Domenico Tedesco could have Romelu Lukaku back at his disposal for Tuesday’s international friendly against England at Wembley.

The Roma striker was not risked for the weekend’s draw with the Republic of Ireland owing to a minor groin issue, but he should be given the green light to line up in the English capital.

As a result, Lois Openda could cede his place in attack to Belgium’s all-time leading male goalscorer, but Kevin De Bruyne will be kept waiting for cap number 100 owing to his own concern.

Having failed to score against an opponent outside the FIFA top 50 for the first time in 14 years against Ireland, Tedesco may be tempted into a double attacking change, as Jeremy Doku bids to oust Leandro Trossard from the XI.

The effervescent Johan Bakayoko may have done enough to hold his place on the right, though, and the same can be said for Youri Tielemans and Arthur Vermeeren in the middle, in spite of the fact that the latter conceded a penalty which Matz Sels saved at the weekend.

Everton’s Amadou Onana could provide some much-needed fresh legs in the engine room over Aster Vranckx, though, while Thomas Meunier and Arthur Theate are also in line for promotions to the first XI amid the quick turnaround.

Luton Town goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski was brought on for his Red Devils debut in the closing stages of Saturday’s game and may now earn a first start too, as Koen Casteels has a shoulder injury, but Wout Faes and Olivier Deman could reprise their defensive roles.

Belgium possible starting lineup:
Kaminski; Meunier, Faes, Theate, Deman; Tielemans, Onana, Vermeeren; Bakayoko, Lukaku, Doku
