How Does Favor Work in Worshipper of Cthulhu?

Worshipper of Cthulhu is a Frostpunk 2-style strategy game where you take on the role of a leader and direct the cult in order to summon the Old One. Obviously, since it is a strategy game, there are several mechanics that must be taken into account, one of which is Favor.

In this article, therefore, we will explain everything you need to know about it: what it is, how to increase it, etc. If you too have started this journey towards madness, the information you will find below can certainly prove useful.

What is Favor in Worshipper of Cthulhu?
The first thing to say is exactly what it is. So, what is Favor in Worshipper of Cthulhu? Favor is nothing more than a sort of unit of measurement that allows you to unlock and build buildings. Worshipper of Cthulhu is a strategy game, so building is the basis of the game, so it goes without saying that Favor is a very important statistic to keep in mind.

However, as is right, the game does not give you the possibility of having unlimited access to Favor. In fact, it must be obtained in order to be used to unlock and build buildings that are present in the game. But how do you get more Favor? Let’s see together.

How to Get More Favor in Worshipper of Cthulhu
There will be times when you will run out of Favor, but fear not: there is a way to get it (and it is not difficult at all). However, there are some prerequisites that you will have to meet in order to get more Favor in Worshipper of Cthulhu.

Unlock the Sacrifice Altar
The first thing to do is to unlock the Sacrifice Altar. This is one of the main objectives of the story, so you will have no problem doing it. For the sake of completeness, we will just say that it is one of the first buildings you will have access to, so it is something you can do right at the beginning of the game.

Start a Ritual
Once you have successfully unlocked and placed a Sacrifice Altar in your city, you will have access to the ability to perform rituals. In this case, this will allow you, through a sacrifice, to obtain Favor that can be used to unlock and build other buildings that will help you to make your community and your cult prosper more and more.

Once you have selected the Sacrifice Altar, you will have the opportunity to decide what type of effigy you can carve to offer it as a sacrifice to the Old One. Keep in mind, however, that each effigy will require different materials to be carved. Therefore, pay attention to the materials that are present in your warehouse.

Note: at the beginning of your adventure, you will only be able to carve the first effigy, as the others will require materials that you do not yet have access to.

Favor Materials
That said, let’s see together what materials are needed to carve the various effigies and how much Favor they are able to give you once they are sacrificed (the process is very fast, it only takes a minute).

First effigy: 12 Favor (if you use enhancement materials, you can get a bonus of 12 or 14 Favor) – needs 5 Planks and 1500 Faith to be carved
Second effigy: 20 Favor (if you use enhancement materials, you can get a bonus of 23 or 27 Favor) – needs 3 Clams, 7 Planks, 2 Robes, 4 Cooked Irons, and 2500 Faith to be carved
Third effigy: 40 Favor (if you use enhancement materials, you can get a bonus of 20, 15, or 15 Favor) – needs 9 Steaks, 10 Corn Ales, 10 Iron Bars, 12 Bottled Milks, and 3500 Faith to be carved

As we already said, the first effigy can be carved right away without any problem since Planks are the first material you will have access to; However, the other materials will become available later in the game, so you will need to progress through the story before you can begin a ritual that uses one of the other effigies as a sacrifice to gain more Favor in Worshipper of Cthulhu.
