How Russell Wilson, Justin Fields fared at Steelers’ first padded practice
The Pittsburgh Steelers threw on the pads for the first time at training camp on Tuesday and the team also saw the return of quarterback Russell Wilson.

He did not participate in the “Seven Shots” portion of practice, though.
Russell Wilson went 6/6 in 7-on-7, including a 25ish yarder to Connor Heyward that drew cheers from the crowd. Wilson took first four reps, followed by four for Fields. Wilson then took last two reps. Each QB completed all their attempts. Fields had a nice deep ball over the…

Justin Fields saw the first-team reps when Wilson wasn’t on the field. According to Pryor, he might have had his best practice of training camp thus far after not missing a single throw in 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 periods.
Pryor adds that Fields “had a couple nice deep throws and designed runs” and “he made routine plays routinely.”

— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 30, 2024No Russell Wilson in 7 shots and Justin Fields looks the best he has all camp in the period, capping it off with a designed run to score. Offense wins 4-3. Faked the handoff to Warren, then ran in on the right.
Fields’ first-team units scored on 4 of 5 attempts. Keep an eye out…
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 30, 2024It would appear that both quarterbacks had a good day on Tuesday, which is great news for Pittsburgh. The Steelers are expected to return to the practice field on Wednesday for what will be their second padded practice of training camp.
