How tall is Maria Taylor? NBC’s ‘Football Night in America’ host rises above co-stars with impressive height

When we watch sports reporters interview players, they often reach up with a microphone. We have even gotten behind-the-scenes looks as some use boxes to appear taller during their hits.

When sportscasters are shown to be tall, for some reason, it feels out of the ordinary. Almost supernatural. It’s silly because most are former athletes themselves, so it makes sense that they are taller. 

Still, every time Maria Taylor is shown on the broadcast for ‘Football Night in America,’ social media explodes with surprise at how tall she is. Taylor could have the benefit of heels with her stylish outfits, but she is just outright tall. She fits in well amongst co-hosts Jason Garrett, Devin McCourty, and Chris Simms.

How tall is Maria Taylor?Taylor is 6-2. If she does wear heels on set, she could get an extra inch or two. This explains why she appears to tower over McCourty and often seems to be around the same height as Garrett, if not sometimes taller. 

What sports did Maria Taylor play?When you see someone over 6-0 tall, you often wonder if they played sports. Taylor attended the University of Georgia on an athletics scholarship. She played volleyball and basketball. Taylor played volleyball at UGA and earned All-SEC honors each year. As a senior in high school, Taylor was part of the USA Volleyball Junior National A2 team and was on the team throughout her time with the Bulldogs. 

Where has Maria Taylor worked?Taylor started reporting at Georgia. She was a reporter and host for IMG College, which has since become Learfield. Taylor appeared on ‘Dawg Report,’ ‘SEC Men’s Basketball Tonight,’ and ‘SportsNite.’ 

She got her shot at ESPN on the sidelines for ESPN2’s weekly Saturday night primetime game. Taylor spent three years working for the SEC Network before becoming a host for College Gameday.

In 2019, Taylor worked her first non-football gig when she hosted ‘NBA Countdown.’ She left ESPN in 2021 and joined NBC Sports. Taylor has since provided coverage for the Olympics, the 2022 French Open, and some college football games in addition to ‘Football Night in America.’
