Knowing how to activate boost in Fortnite Rocket Racing can give you the perfect headstart against your enemies. Here’s how you can do it.

Normally, you would hold a button to get a headstart in other racing games, but it’s a bit different in Fortnite Rocket Racing. At the start of this game mode, players are given different starting positions randomly. Some may find themselves in the middle, while the lucky ones would be placed at the front, giving a slight advantage over anyone else.

That said, just because you start at the back, doesn’t mean the game is over. In fact, whether or not you can get a decent headstart depends on activating the boost for your car. Check out how to activate boost in Fortnite Rocket Racing so you can get that sweet extra full speed ahead of everyone.

Activate Boost at the Start in Fortnite Rocket Racing

Epic GamesDrifting in Fortnite Rocket Racing game mode.

Other than drifting, being able to activate boost in Fortnite Rocket Racing is one of the crucial aspects that can help you win games. After all, if you can get ahead of everyone else at the start, you should be having an easier time navigating through the rest of the track down the line.

At the beginning of every game, there will be a countdown bar on your screen. Afterward, three red lights will start to appear, followed by one last green light. To activate boost, you’ll need to hit the acceleration button just before the green light shows.

Generally, with the right timing, you’ll be able to get around more than 50% boost—up to 100% if done perfectly. However, one thing to keep in mind is that the rhythm of the lights appearing is different on every map. So, you can’t solely rely on memorizing the light’s pattern. Just be more alert.

How to Use Turbo in Fortnite Rocket Racing

As you navigate obstacles and drift in the game, your Turbo meter will start filling up. There will be a prompt on your screen that lets you know you can activate it. To use it, simply press the Turbo key bind, which should be left-click on your keyboard, the triangle on your PlayStation, and the Y on Xbox controller.

Once activated, you’ll be able to zoom in on the race track at a higher speed, allowing you to create a gap between you and the others. We recommend that you activate this while you’re driving in a straight line, as taking your time navigating tight corners and turns will just defeat the purpose of this feature.

So, that’s it. Now that you know how to activate boost in Fortnite Rocket Racing, you should be able to make the most out of your race tracks to get across the finish line. Unlike LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite Festival, this is just one of the game modes that require you to learn the ins and outs of the maps, so don’t be discouraged if you’re still learning.
