How to Fix the Fortnite Queue Error – Get Past Worst Bug
Jumping into a fresh Fortnite update is great, but what about when you’re hit with the bad news? That queue screen, or worse, the Fortnite queue error.
For major updates, like Fortnite Remix, queues are kind of expected at this point. Nearly every major update for the last year has seen a queue established. Players having to sit and wait until they can get in.
Is there anything you can do about it? For a normal queue, no you just have to wait your turn. However, if you’ve been hit by the Fortnite Queue error screen then it might be a little bit easier.
A bug with the game often occurs with long queues where players get cycled around the queue over and over. Without ever actually moving you in. This can be especially frustrating, especially when it’s a long wait. What can you do about it?
Do You have the Fortnite Queue Error or are You Just Waiting?
When you jump into Fortnite after a big update, getting in will depend on how well the Fortnite servers are doing. Sometimes, when there are too many players, you get put in a queue. You essentially have to wait your turn.
How do you know if you’re getting an error or just waiting in the queue? There are a few tells. The first for the error is the wait time.
Sometimes the queue wait time gets pretty high. If you’re seeing an astronomical number though, chances are you’ve got the error. Some players have had screens telling them there are days or weeks to wait, which is obviously a problem.
The other tell that it’s an error and not a queue if what happens when the timer runs out. If you’re kicked back to the start of the queue again, that’s the error.
What can you do? There are quite a few steps you can take. You don’t just have to be booted back to wait again every time you get the Fortnite Queue Error.
How to Fix the Fortnite Queue Error
To fix the proper error, you’ll need to restart your game first. Shut it down, a hard shut down, and boot it back up. Once in, you should be in a more normal queue.
If that still doesn’t work, then you can jump in after restarting your connection and potentially your device too. The next step would be to clear the cache for Fortnite.
The downside of this would be that you essentially have to restart your progress in the queue. Unfortunately, since the game lost the connection to you, it wasn’t counting your progress in the first place once you’ve got the Fortnite Queue Error.
Run through these fixes and you should be back in, provided Fortnite isn’t having any major server issues. During peak player times like this, they can happen, especially matchmaking errors. So sometimes you might need to wait it out to get back into the game.
How to Get Out of the Fortnite Queue
That’s the error and how to fix it, but what about when you’re just sat waiting in a queue, that’s a different question. You can’t skip the waiting time.
When you log in and the game says wait an hour to play, you’ll just have to wait the hour. You can try restarting it, but if more players are still hoping in you just have to wait until you reach the top of the queue.
Once the Fortnite queue reaches a certain level, it tends to level out. More players decide it’s not worth waiting and decide to sit it out until it goes back to normal.
You’ll be able to get back in the game if you can wait it out long enough. As we’re expecting a live event and a new season, a queue might be popping up soon. It’s a shame there’s no cheat code to skip your way to the front of the game. However, it should resolve itself eventually.
