How to Style Peep-Toe Heels in 2025

If “transitional footwear” is a thing, peep-toe heels definitely qualify—and the latest celebrity dipping their toes into spring 2025 is Sydney Sweeney.
On April 2 the (allegedly single) 27-year-old redeclared her love of Laneige, celebrating the Korean skin care brand’s new Bouncy & Firm Radiance Boosting Serum with Peony & Collagen ComplexTM. To go with the overtly pink theme of the LA launch event, Sweeney paired a lacy pink top and with a pair of wide-leg blue jeans sandwiched between her cropped pink corduroy jacket and matching peep-toe shoes. As the Daily Mail noted, she arrived sans engagement ring.
Whether she was following current manicure trends or leaning into the clean aesthetic for the skin care event, her unexpected heels were the perfect choice to show off her soapy, pinkish nude pedicure without going full flip-flop.

But Sydney Sweeney is not the only one turning to the unexpected peep-toe heel when styling a pair of wide-leg jeans. Though the shoe is more commonly associated with sundresses and bridal showers, Michelle Williams recently tested the “wrong shoe theory” in New York City, pairing trendy barrel jeans with decidedly untrendy black peep-toe mules in lieu of the typical sneaker or loafer popular with so many other celebs.
Just like Sweeney, she opted for a cropped textured top, officially marking a new spring uniform for those looking to show just a sliver of midriff and toe.

In fact, peep toes may be this spring’s most versatile weapon. In February Hailey Bieber went for a strappy version of the shoe, which she paired with a brown leather minidress and sheer tights, ignoring any rules about hosiery and open-toe shoes. Katie Holmes was not far behind, pairing her own brown peep-toes and pantyhose.
