How to watch St. Michael-Albertville vs. Providence Academy in Minnesota high school girls basketball

Providence Academy girls basketball entered the 2024-25 in search of its fourth consecutive MSHSL AA state championship.

One might say it’s going pretty well so far.

The Lions are 18-0 and ranked on the bubble of The Sporting News’ national girls basketball top 25. They haven’t played a single-digit game since defeating Minnesota’s next-highest ranked team, Hopkins, 66-59 on Dec. 27.

Providence Academy may be tested on Saturday, however, as it heads to reigning MSHSL AAAA bronze medalist St. Michael-Albertville (13-5).

St. Michael-Albertville has been almost untouchable at home, where it’s 9-1 with its only loss coming narrowly to another unbeaten Minnesota team, Monticello, nearly two months ago. The Knights’ last home game was by far their most impressive win of the year, 62-41 over Minnesota No. 4 Eden Prairie on Jan. 17. They also beat Minnetonka at home a week before that.

To have a chance at stopping the Lions, St. Michael-Albertville will need to slow down one of the nation’s premier guards and absolute most productive players, 5-star junior Maddyn Greenway, daughter of Minnesota Vikings legend Chad Greenway. Greenway is ranked 18th in her class by ESPN HoopGurlz, and is verbally committed to Kentucky. She’s averaging 31.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and career-highs of 8.0 assists and 5.2 steals per game on 50% shooting, including 38% from three with nearly three makes per game.

Greenway might be playing the best ball of her life since the calendar flipped to 2025. In the last six games, she has four triple-doubles and a 50-bomb. But if her Lions don’t bring their A-game to STMA, their undefeated bid might implode quickly.
