How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Bournemouth
Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth.
Having seen their winning run ended by Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek, Tottenham Hotspur return to action against Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve, when they wrap up an eventful calendar year.
Three days after their unsuccessful trip to the Amex Stadium, Spurs will line up for their final home fixture of 2023, and boss Ange Postecoglou must decide whether to shuffle his pack.
The Australian’s absence list remains lengthy, though, and therefore restricts his options – several senior players will be missing again on Sunday afternoon.
Manor Solomon (knee), Ivan Perisic (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Rodrigo Bentancur (ankle), James Maddison (ankle), Micky van de Ven (thigh) and defensive rock Cristian Romero (hamstring) are all sidelined by injury.
Yves Bissouma continues to serve a suspension, having been handed a four-match ban earlier this month, but Oliver Skipp is expected to return to contention after a knock ruled him out of Thursday’s game and could even start in central midfield.
Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil will hope to be promoted from the bench, as will Eric Dier; however, Brazilian full-back Emerson Royal was preferred to the latter in central defence against Brighton.
Emerson’s compatriot Richarlison spearheads Tottenham’s front line, supported by skipper Heung-min Son, Brennan Johnson and potentially Lo Celso in place of the banned Dejan Kulusevski; although Alejo Veliz scored at the Amex after arriving from the bench, he should be used as an impact substitute once again.
Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup: Vicario; Porro, Emerson, Davies, Udogie; Skipp, Sarr; Johnson, Lo Celso, Son; Richarlison
