“I cannot predict”-Arsenal man Chuba Akpom uncertain about Ajax future amid Premier League links

Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom has expressed uncertainty about his future at Ajax after the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Akpom has had a topsy-turvy debut campaign at Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax. The 28-year-old forward has registered 15 goals and two assists in 34 appearances for the club across all competitions, but most of those have come in patches.

Akpom is currently in fine form for Ajax, with five goals and one assist in his last six games. He has also enjoyed a significant increase in his game time recently. However, there have been a lot of talk about the former Arsenal man’s future because of his struggles at the club.

Moreover, there have been rumors that Akpom could return to England in the summer, with Luton Town, Everton, and Nottingham Forest in the mix. It would be a decent deal for any of the sides, as aside from Akpom’s experience and versatility, he would come at a decent price between €12-15 million.

However, amid the talks, Akpom is still unsure of his next move. The Nigerian forward was brilliant for Ajax on Sunday, when they thrashed Volendam 4-1. After the game, when queried on his future, Akpom stated that he wants to wait it out and see what happens next.

“I don’t know what the club wants. For me the most important thing is to have fun in football. It doesn’t matter where,” Akpom said, per Ajax Life.

“There are still two regular competition matches to be played. Then we’ll look further. I cannot predict the future. For now, the three points are the most important.”

Ajax is currently in a bad situation, as they are rebuilding after losing some of their best legs in the last two seasons. Surely, in the summer, they will sign new players, while some will leave.

Despite Akpom’s decent goal returns this season, he may have to leave at the end of the summer.
