‘I don’t think he could’ – Carl Froch doesn’t believe Jake Paul was taking it easy on Mike Tyson in ‘awful’ fight
Carl Froch is not buying Jake Paul’s post-fight comments after the Mike Tyson win.
The 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer outpointed the 58-year-old heavyweight legend in an underwhelming affair on Friday night, though many were relived not to see a knockout.

For the remainder of the contest Iron Mike looked vulnerable but Paul did not score a KO.
He said afterwards that he stepped off the gas because he didn’t want to hurt Tyson.
“It was crap, wasn’t it?” Froch said on his YouTube channel, “Let’s be honest, the fight itself was awful…
More In Boxing”It looked like Mike Tyson turned up just to play his role in this little circus.
“And Jake Paul, he was either too scared to engage and stay in close with Mike Tyson or he was being true to his word, he didn’t want to hurt him, didn’t want to knock him out.
“But I don’t think he could have done it, I don’t think Jake Paul’s good enough.
“Let’s not forget Jake Paul has only had one professional boxing contest and that was with Tommy Fury and he lost that fight. Tommy Fury’s kind of British level at best.
“But yeah, the fight itself was a massive anti-climax. It was f***ing crap. It was a waste of time. I’m glad I didn’t stay up late to watch it.
“All the people that paid good money to be there and watch it, they must be disappointed with that performance.

Froch was a great champion but has not fought since 2014Credit: Getty”I’m not taking anything away from Mike Tyson. He’s 58 years old. He can only do what he can do. He’s got an old body.
“But Jake Paul put in a s*** performance as well.
“I don’t like the way he’s trying to say he didn’t really try because I think he did try at moments in there. He did have a swing up.
“Jake Paul really didn’t want to engage. I don’t think he had the bottle to stand in front of Tyson and try and do anything to get him out of there.”
Froch concluded by once again making his case to fight Paul himself.
“He’s mentioned me before,” Froch added, “And there’ll be people out there saying, ‘Oh, Carl Froch is talking about himself. He’s after a payday.’

“Listen, I’m not after a payday, I’m doing alright, there’s no problems with my finances.
“But I’ll take the fucking payday, of course I will.
“And I’ll end Jake Paul with one punch. I’d go in there one-armed and beat this guy.
“He can’t box. He’s absolutely f***ing useless, which we saw last night with Mike Tyson.
