IND vs SA, 2nd Test Day 2, Highlights: Six-wicket hauls from Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah helped India register a historic seven-wicket win over South Africa in the second Test on Thursday in Cape Town. The Day 2 began with Bumrah decimating the Proteas at 176 with Aiden Markram scoring 106 runs. Chasing a below-par score of 79 runs, India lost three wickets but eventually went across the line in 12 overs. With this win, India have levelled the two-match series 1-1 and it happened for the first time in 13 years. Apart from this, this match also became the shortest Test match in the history of cricket. A tough one for us. Pretty positive coming into this game. India bowled fantastically and used the conditions. Still a lot of positives for the young players that we have within the side. 2-0 would have been really nice, still managed 1-1, proud of the boys. The way the bowlers bowled in the series and the way Aiden batted in the second innings is something out of the world. (On the pitch) It was a bit of a ripper. Naked eye, it looked like it’s going to be a nice one. It played totally different to what everyone thought. We were on the receiving end, big learning curve for us. If you ask Rohit, he’d have batted first.

We were very happy that we were able to do that in this game. I started from the other end, but we realised that there was little more help, unevenness and seam movement from the Wynberg end. Other end, there’s not too much help. Still there’s a lot of work to be done, I made my Test debut (here), so this ground will always be special in my heart. Since then, it’s been a good journey. But it’s all happening from a quality length and there’s nothing you can do as a batter when it hits that area and stands up steeply which we saw on happen countless occasions. Was it a 55 wicket? No. Certainly wasn’t a 250-300 wicket. These types of pitches are dangerous for batters’ physical health. Spinning pitches are dangerous to batters’ reputation. It’s not very easy for batters to play, little of the skill involved. It has to be an even covering of grass. Little bit of grass here, bare patches there.
