Introducing the 2024 New Wave: Creatives

We delighted to unveil its 2024 NEW WAVE: Creatives, a list of the 50 most innovative and inspiring young creative talents who play a critical role within the fashion industry globally. The dynamic list includes trailblazers from across multiple disciplines including casting directors, photographers, art directors, hair and makeup artists, image makers, nail artists, set designers and stylists. The final 50 will be celebrated as part of The Fashion Awards 2024 presented by Pandora (TFA) on Monday 2nd December at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

TFA, organised by the BFC, are the primary fundraiser for the BFC Foundation and celebrate the role of fashion at the intersection of culture and entertainment, spotlighting creative talent and telling the stories of the year in fashion through the lens of purpose, excellence, and creativity.

Caroline Rush, Chief Executive, British Fashion Council commented: NEW WAVE: Creatives is an invaluable platform for recognising and celebrating the diverse talents shaping the future of fashion, the community beyond the designers and creative directors. These emerging artists, often working behind the scenes, are redefining creativity across multiple disciplines and transforming the way fashion is experienced globally. The 2024 cohort represents an exciting new generation with innovative and diverse perspectives that are key to the industrys evolution. We cant wait to celebrate their contributions this December.

The final list is a resource for the global fashion industry which can support and inform the curation of teams for creative projects – accessible here. This list is also invaluable to the work of the BFC who continue to support and engage NEW WAVE: Creatives alumni for various programmes, events and initiatives. This includes engaging Julie Lie to design the TFA 2023 trophy, Derrick Ofosu Boateng as the photographer for the Winners Room at TFA 2023, Tami Aftab as the photographer for the South Asian exhibition during LFW in June 2024 and Jade Adeyemi to design the TFA 2024 trophy.

It highlights Londons position as an international hub of creativity and pays homage to the incredible success of both home-grown and international talent. As the purpose-built portal, the NEW WAVE: Creatives 2024 will benefit from year-round social media support across the BFCs channels as well.

This year voting began in July with the NEW WAVE: Creatives from 2023 – the previous years community directly influencing 2024s outcome, in support of their industry peers. An influential industry panel defined the final group of recipients for 2024.
