Ironman Vietnam to Debut Full Distance Racing in Da Nang in 2026

Vietnam will host its first-ever Full Distance Ironman triathlon in 2026, with Da Nang set to welcome athletes from around the world on Sunday, May 10.

The new race will run alongside Ironman 70.3 Da Nang, which has been held since 2015. The addition of a Full Distance race marks a significant step for the region’s endurance sport landscape, giving athletes the opportunity to race over the iconic 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike, and 42.2 km run on Vietnam’s central coast.

Organizers highlight the strong partnership between Ironman, local authorities, and Sunrise Events Vietnam as the foundation for bringing the event to life. Over the past decade, Da Nang has built a reputation as a reliable host city, blending modern infrastructure with vibrant tourism and a growing triathlon culture.

Da Nang city officials describe the new Ironman Vietnam as a milestone for both sport and tourism. They see the event as an opportunity to showcase the city’s international ambitions, promote healthy lifestyles, and develop a sustainable endurance sports ecosystem that benefits athletes, the community, and the tourism sector.

The 2026 course will start with a two-lap swim at Bien Dong Park, featuring an “Aussie exit” after the first lap. The bike leg takes athletes along the Vo Nguyen Giap coastline and across the Thuan Phuoc Bridge before heading inland toward the region’s rice fields. The four-loop marathon will unfold along Da Nang’s beachfront, with spectators expected to create a lively atmosphere leading into the finish at Bien Dong Park.

With qualification slots for the 2026 Ironman World Championship on offer, the race is expected to attract a mix of domestic athletes and international competitors targeting both the challenge and the experience of racing in Vietnam.
