Is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Playing Tonight? OKC Thunder Injury Report and Depth Charts Ahead of Brooklyn Nets Game

7-3! That is the record that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander boasts against the Brooklyn Nets. With an average score of 26.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in those last 10 matchups, the OKC star has ensured to perform exceptionally well against Nic Claxton and co. Therefore, his presence is sure to improve the odds for his team during the upcoming matchup at the Paycom Center. Unfortunately, there isn’t too much good news awaiting OKC fans on that front.

According to the Oklahoma City Thunder Injury Report, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is listed as ‘Questionable’ for the upcoming matchup against the Nets. This means that there is a fairly good chance that the point guard will miss his 2 consecutive game.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander reportedly complained of soreness in his wrist on Friday morning. Later, he was placed on the report under a ‘Questionable’ status. The wrist sprain later caused the player to be declared ‘OUT’ from the matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. This proved harmful, as the No. 1 seeding team on the Western Conference chart lost by a 106-98 score. With no further updates on his recovery, Gilgeous-Alexander’s availability remains under 50-50 odds.

Fortunately, Gilgeous-Alexander’s condition isn’t as bad as some of his peers. After all, four other players are listed alongside him on the report, all of them ‘OUT’ for the upcoming game. Chet Holmgren last played for the OKC a little before mid-November and was sidelined after sustaining a fractured hip.

As highlighted by RotoWire, Holmgren may not be returning until after the All-Star break. Isaiah Hartenstein had sustained a left soleus strain during Tuesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. He will reportedly be re-evaluated in one week, meaning that the upcoming matchup against the Brooklyn Nets will be the 3 consecutive game he misses.

The partially torn ACL that Nikola Topic had sustained in May 2024 continues to be a bother and will keep him away most likely for the entirety of the 2024-25 season. Meanwhile, Ajay Mitchell will miss his 8 consecutive game after sustaining a turf toe sprain in his right big toe. After having undergone a successful procedure, Mitchell will reportedly be re-evaluated in 10-to-12 weeks.

When discussing the Brooklyn Nets, the condition of the Eastern Conference franchise is similar to their rivals. After all, they have not one, but 5 players listed on the Injury Report. De’Anthony Melton, who was recently traded to the Nets by the Warriors, had earlier sustained a season-ending Sprained ACL Injury. Therefore, he will not be seen for any of the team’s games this season.

Meanwhile, Maxwell Lewis sustained a fractured left tibia during a Nets-Raptors game. His status will be updated by next month. Cam Thomas sustained a left hamstring strain during the recent Nets-Bucks game and will reportedly not be re-evaluated before January 19.

Bojan Bogdanovic had gotten foot surgery during the offseason. He hasn’t played even a single game this season, but there has been some progress in his recovery. Along with Bogdanovic, Trendon Watford will also be ‘OUT’ as he continues to recover from his hamstring ailment.

In light of these updates, both teams will have to make adjustments to their starting lineup.
