Tiger Woods is set for his next tournament appearance after playing four rounds at The Masters last month. 

The golf icon made the cut at Augusta before finishing poorly and coming in 60th place following a five-over final round.

Is Woods playing at the 2024 PGA Championship?Woods is expected to play at the PGA Championship next weekend. 

Last year, the 15-time major winner revealed he was hoping to play in one event per month as he aims to manage the workload on his ankle.

Speaking on May 1, Woods confirmed his plan is still going ahead, telling NBC’s The Today Show: “The next three months, I have three majors, and hopefully that’ll all work out.”

So that means he will be targeting the majors, with the US Open taking place in June and then The Open Championship in July. 

Woods continues to play through pain and after four rounds at Augusta, he will be hoping that he has recovered well.

Woods played 72-holes at a major for the first time since the 2022 MastersCredit: GettyHe revealed he would be doing some research on the next three major courses after The Masters, saying: “I’m going to do my homework going forward at Pinehurst, Valhalla and Troon.”

And he is now reported to be going to visit the Valhalla Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky only a few days before the event gets underway. 

His participation will come down to his fitness, but the fact he is going on a scouting mission seems to show his intentions to play a part. 

It doesn’t mean he will be pain-free though, as last month he admitted that he still struggles on every round.

Woods said: “Every shot that is not on a tee box is a challenge – once we start the hole, it’s a bit of a challenge.

“The ankle doesn’t hurt anymore. It’s fused. It’s not going anywhere. So that’s fine. It’s other parts of my body that now have to take the brunt of it.

“The back, the knee, other parts of the body have to take the load of it and just the endurance capability of walking a long time and being on my feet for a long time (is an issue).

“Things just flare up. The training that we have to do at home, it changes from a day-to-day basis. Some days I just feel really good and other days not so much. I hurt every day.”
