It’s back to business for the Saints and their pursuit of Kellen Moore

With Super Bowl LIX officially over, the New Orleans Saints can now turn their attention to officially signing Philadelphia Eagles OC Kellen Moore as their new head coach.

Per league rules, coaches on the Super Bowl teams cannot sign or agree to sign a contract with another team until their season has completed. Because the Eagles were playing in the Super Bowl, their season did not officially end until today.

When we asked Moore about his thoughts on coming to New Orleans on Super Bowl Opening Night, he was coy and just replied that he had some great conversations with Mickey Loomis.

Then on Saturday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that barring any setbacks, Moore was expected to become the teams’ next head coach.

After the Eagles dominate 40-22 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs last night, Eagles’ owner Jeffrey Lurie was asked if he expects to lose Moore this week. Lurie said, “I do. Unfortunately, we’re gonna have to wish him the very best with New Orleans.”

“Very smart coach who was able to adapt our offense week to week (as) needed to win games.”

After today’s post-game press conferences, Moore will fly back to Philadelphia with the team. As for the Saints, now that the game is over, they can get back to business, officially meet with Moore one more time and draft up a contract to lock up their guy. I would then expect an official announcement sometime later this week.
