Jarrod Bowen has handed England a major scare after going off injured against Wolves with Euro 2024 just two months away.
Bowen went down after a fairly innocuous looking challenge for the ball, but tried to continue before it became apparent he simply couldn’t, and he was replaced by Aaron Creswell.
With the full extent of the injury yet to be revealed it could give Gareth Southgate a headache ahead of this summer’s European Championships.
Bowen gives England and West Ham injury scareThe 27-year-old has been in brilliant form for the Hammers this season and has scored 15 goals in 31 Premier League appearances as well as providing five assists.
The former Hull City man has established himself in the England set-up and has been widely tipped to make an impact for Southgate’s men in Germany this summer.
Bowen came off injured against Wolves.Depending on the extent of the injury the England international could be in a race against time to prove his fitness with any serious injury set to have huge consequences at this stage of the season.
More pressingly it represents a potentially major problem for David Moyes’s side who have been reliant on Bowen’s goal this season.
West Ham have a Europa League quarter final against Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen coming up next, and it would represent a major blow for Moyes if he is unable to call upon one of his key players.
The Hammers are firmly in the hunt for European qualification and recorded a crucial 2-1 win away at Wolves thanks to a penalty from Lucas Paqueta and James Ward Prowse who scored directly from a corner, although Wolves did have a last gasp equaliser from Max Kilman controversially ruled out.
West Ham are seventh in the table and level on points with Manchester United in sixth although they have played two games more.
