Jayden Daniels, Commanders Wow NFL Fans by Beating Bucs as Last-Second FG Doinks In

Jayden Daniels’ tremendous rookie year got even better on Sunday.
The Washington Commanders quarterback led his team to their first playoff win since 2005 behind 268 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Calm and collected on Washington’s final drive, he led the Commanders down the field and set up a last-second field goal attempt, and Zane Gonzalez doinked it in to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20.

A slow first quarter saw Tampa Bay take the lead on a field goal, but the Commanders got on the board with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jayden Daniels to Dyami Brown before making a 10-3 game with a field goal. The Buccaneers tied things up heading into halftime
Washington got a field goal early in the second half, but Tampa Bay took the lead later in the third quarter with a touchdown. The lead didn’t last long, however, as Daniels got his second touchdown pass in the fourth quarter after a Buccaneers fumble gave the Commanders good field position.

Tampa Bay made a field goal to make it a 20-20 game with just under five minutes to play, setting up an interesting finish to the wild-card contest.
The Commanders then executed a perfect final drive, killing clock on their way down the field to set up a last-second field goal, which Gonzalez doinked off the upright to secure the win.
Daniels is likely on his way to winning the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, but Sunday’s performance showed just how special he can be. Now, he’ll look to continue wowing fans as Washington continues its playoff run.
