Jerry Jones isn’t confident Micah Parsons will play against the Eagles Week 1
The Jerry Jones vs. Micah Parsons saga continues days after the Cowboys’ locker room leader formally, and publicly, asked for a trade out of Dallas. Jones spoke to reporters after practice on Tuesday and confirmed that he has not reached out to Parsons or his agent since Parsons’ public declaration last Friday.
Still, despite the Cowboys’ owner not making any sort of first move, he puts things squarely on the league’s top defender for how things will (or will not) move forward.
When asked if he was confident that Parsons would be on the field for the Cowboys in Week 1, Jones was pretty emphatic, replying, “No. Absolutely not. A big part of that is his decision. How would I know that? I’m just saying. No. But I’m urgent.”
The Cowboys are already dealing with several injured starters who might miss the September 4 season opener in Philadelphia, but Parsons not being on the field would probably be welcome news for Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata — and the rest of the Eagles offense.
Hopefully Jerry Jones continues handling this situation as well as he has been …
