Jets’ D.J. Reed Says NFL Refs ‘F–king Suck’ on Social Media After Loss to Seahawks

It’s safe to say that New York Jets cornerback D.J. Reed wasn’t happy with the officiating during the team’s 26-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
In a post on X after the game, Reed wrote that the referees “f–king suck” and should be “ashamed.”

The Jets held a 21-16 lead entering the fourth quarter, but the Seahawks responded by scoring 10 straight points which included a go-ahead touchdown with just over five minutes left in regulation.

Seattle finished the matchup with five penalties for 50 yards, while New York committed 12 penalties that totaled 83 yards. The disparity is evident, but the Jets were only pushed back 33 more yards compared to the Seahawks while they were flagged seven more times.
New York also committed the fourth-most penalties in the NFL entering the game.
Flags started to fly as the game wore on, with eight of the Jets’ penalties occurring in the fourth quarter (h/t Fox Sports’ Peter Schrager).
Cornerback Sauce Gardner didn’t call out the officiating in a similar manner as Reed, but he appeared to disagree with a few of the fourth-quarter calls.
“I’m not going to sit up here and just talk bad about the refs,” Gardner told reporters after the loss. “Nobody’s perfect, they were doing their job how they feel was the highest level. And that’s just what it is, and we’ve just got to live with those results and so do they.”

Reed and Gardner have helped the Jets maintain the league’s second-best pass defense for two straight years, but overall defensive inconsistency as well as offensive struggles have New York sitting at 3-9 through 12 contests.
After a 2-1 start to the year, the Jets have now lost eight of their past nine games.
