Jordan Davis wins first career Player of the Week award
No surprise here: Jordan Davis has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for blocking the Los Angeles Rams’ game-winning field goal attempt and then returning it for a touchdown in the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 3 win, according to an official NFL announcement.
This marks the first career Player of the Week award for Davis. It’s a well-deserved honor for a player who seems to be having a breakout season. Davis has been an impactful defender through the Eagles’ first three games in 2025. He ranks tied for the NFL lead in tackles at his position in addition to ranking tied for third in “stops,” which are defined as tackles that constitute a failure for the offense.
If Davis keeps this up, he’s certainly going to warrant a long-term contract extension. He would’ve been a free agent after this season had the Eagles not picked up his fifth-year option for 2026. Perhaps the two sides will get together on a deal after 2025.
Davis is the first defensive tackle in Eagles history to win NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. He’s the first Eagles player to win the award since Braden Mann in Week 13 last season. He’s the first non-specialist Eagles player to win the award since Zech McPhearson in Week 1 of the 2022 season.

In other POTW award news, former Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his monster game in the Minnesota Vikings’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
