Expectations in Green Bay are sky-high for the 2024 NFL season.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love made an appearance on the Scoop City podcast and spoke about the “elevated mindset” that comes to this year’s team after a year of growth in 2023.
“Last year there was a lot of question marks with everybody on our team,” Love said. “We had a lot of young players and guys trying to prove themselves. Now, guys kind of made names for themselves and teams know what we are about. Our mindset is definitely elevated as a team in the locker room.”
Love elaborated by describing the Packers’ lofty goals.
“The goal is definitely an NFC North championship and a Super Bowl,” Love said. “We set the goals high and we are trying to show up every day and be able to go out there and compete to that standard.”
Green Bay entered 2023 as something of an unknown quantity. Love, a 2020 first-round pick, was entering his first year as the starter after Aaron Rodgers’ move to the New York Jets. On top of that, Love was operating in an offense full of question marks at the skill positions.
Green Bay went 9-8 and reached the postseason with the final Wild Card spot. Love threw for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during the regular season, cementing himself as the team’s long-term starter.
The Packers pulled off an upset victory over the No. 2-seeded Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round before falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round. As a result, Love earned a record-setting $220 million contract extension that firmly entrenched him as the team’s franchise quarterback.
Love and the Packers will start the quest to improve on their 2023 season on Sept. 6 when they face the Philadelphia Eagles at 8:15 p.m. ET in Brazil.
