With a chance to fight for light heavyweight gold on the line, Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez will look to impress at Wembley Arena in London on February 3. The 12-round bout for the British and Commonwealth light heavyweight titles, plus undercard action, will be broadcast by Sky Sports in the U.K. and Peacock in the U.S.

A bronze medalist in the 2016 Olympics, Buatsi turned pro in 2017. In 2019, he beat Liam Conroy for the British light heavyweight title and has since taken out the likes of Ryan Ford, Ricards Bolotniks, and Craig Richards. The Richards fight in May 2022 was his final outing with Matchroom, as the deal they had expired. Under his new deal with BOXXER, Buatsi won a 10-round decision over Pawel Stepien in May.

A three-time ABA South of England champion, Azeez turned pro in 2017. He won the English light heavyweight title against Lawrence Osueke in 2019, and the Commonwealth light heavyweight title in 2022 against Rocky Fielding. “Super” was 2-0 in 2023, beating Khalid Graidia in his last fight in July.

The Buatsi-Azeez bout is an eliminator for the WBA light heavyweight title, a title Buatsi has had his eye on for years. The clash was meant for October, but Azeez suffered an injury during training a week before the fight.
