Kate Middleton Says Her Cancer Is In Remission

Kate, who turned 43 last week, also thanked the Royal Marsden, a U.K. cancer research and treatment facility, for “looking after me so well during the past year.”

“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything,” she wrote. “We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

She noted she has a new role as joint patron of the Royal Marsden focused on supporting research and supporting patients.

After months of speculation about her sudden disappearance from public life, Kate revealed last March that she’d been diagnosed with cancer. Though she didn’t specify the type, she shared that the disease was uncovered after undergoing major abdominal surgery last January.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment,” she continued. “But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” she added, referencing her three children with the Prince of Wales.
