Katt Williams Says Ice Cube Asked Him To Write ‘Last Friday,’ Disses Chris Tucker
Katt Williams reveals he was once asked by Ice Cube to write the screenplay for Last Friday, the proposed fourth installment in the Friday film franchise.
During an interview on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the comedian and actor was asked if he’d consider reprising his role as Money Mike if another Friday film were to be made. He confirmed he’d be on board and also said he was asked to help the West Coast legend create the film’s plot.
“Cube already asked me to write it. I was supposed to have been writing it. This is what these guys are mad about,” Williams told Sharpe, referencing the various comics he’s become at odds with over the years.

The 52-year-old also expressed a sense of urgency in getting Last Friday made in light of the death of actor John Witherspoon, who passed away in 2019. Witherspoon had appeared in Friday, Next Friday, and Friday After Next as Willie Jones, the father of Ice Cube’s character Craig Jones.
“We lost some great people before [Friday 4] could come out, regardless. So yes, there desperately needs to be one. But we miss John Witherspoon in a way that can’t really be quantified,” he said.

Williams then took a shot at Chris Tucker, referencing his alleged ties to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He also poked fun at Tucker’s close friendship with late pop icon Michael Jackson. “And the Chris Tucker we got now is ‘Epstein Island’ Chris Tucker,” the Cincinnati native quipped.
He also reasoned that Tucker hasn’t reprised his role as Smokey after the original Friday film due to his religious beliefs. “Chris Tucker did not want to be the ‘poster child’ for smoking marijuana like his Smokey character, Williams said. “[Chris Tucker] don’t smoke weed like that. He’s in the church. He was Michael Jackson’s best friend… Michael Jackson called him ‘Christmas.’ You ever met a man that gave you a little nickname like that?”
