Khamzat Chimaev brutally bloodied ‘Ragnarok’ in a disturbing finish to his MMA debut
Khamzat Chimaev has been one of the most impressive fighters in the UFC in the past few years, although he has been that good in the octagon ever since his MMA debut years prior.
The Georgian fighter will take on Dricus du Plessis in a blockbuster main event at UFC 319 as he challenges for the UFC Middleweight title.
The undefeated fighter will hope to seize on his first title fight by winning gold, as Khamzat Chimaev looks to add to his impressive record in the octagon.
It is a 14-0 record, which began all the way back in 2018 with a bloody and brutal victory in Sweden.

“Borz” made his debut as a 19-year-old, fighting for the International Ring Fight Arena after moving to Sweden just a year earlier.
Sagen, the 1-1 Middleweight known by his nickname “Ragnarok”, was also at the beginning of his career, although it wouldn’t last much longer after the horrendous beatdown he suffered at his Georgian opponent’s hands.
The first round saw both fighters approaching tentatively, but Chimaev soon took control. He bloodied Sagen with an impressive combination of punches and took him down numerous times, but failed to put him away before the buzzer signalled the end of the round.
The second round would be the final one of Chimaev’s debut. Sagen’s nose was already bloodied from the opening round, but things got much worse once Borz took an even tighter grip on the contest.
He tagged Ragnarok numerous times, opening him up further and causing further bleeding and swelling to his face as the seconds passed by.
Around two minutes into the round, Chimaev managed to take down and rear mount Sagen before unleashing a barrage of punches into his face, causing even more damage to the Swede.
Blood poured from his face as Chimaev attacked him numerous times, unleashing a brutal attack that caused more and more blood to pour from his face and pool on the canvas, making a disturbing sight for the fans in attendance.
Even more disturbing was the inaction from the referee. He allowed this brutal attack to continue, uninterrupted and with zero defensive capabilities on Sagen’s part, for a full 15 seconds before he stopped the assault and awarded Chimaev the victory.
Ragnarok was left with a battered face, covered in blood and with extensive damage, while Chimaev walked away from his debut without a scratch and one victory to his win column.
Dana White was impressed by Khamzat Chimaev’s quickfire knockout win in 2020Two years after his startling victory on his MMA debut, Chimaev put on a performance in the UFC that even had Dana White standing up and taking notice.
Chimaev finished Gerald Meerschaert with one punch in just 17 seconds at UFC Vegas 11, in just his third fight since joining the UFC.
White signalled how impressed he was at the finish when speaking to Megan Olivi in a post-fight interview.
The UFC CEO said: “One punch. 17 seconds. This kid is special. “He’s different than any fighter I’ve ever seen. I’ve been in the business for a very long time, and I’ve seen a lot of greats come and go.
“This kid is absolutely special and I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Chimaev will be hoping to impress once again by beating du Plessis to become the UFC Middleweight champion at UFC 319.
