Killer Mike Booked For Misdemeanor Following Arrest Outside 2024 Grammy Awards
Killer Mike‘s arrest outside of the 2024 Grammy Awards has been explained. According to Deadline, the rapper was taken into police custody and booked on a misdemeanor battery charge. On Sunday night (Feb. 4), the Los Angeles Police Department shared a brief statement on X, confirming 48-year-old Michael Render was detained and handcuffed for a physical altercation in downtown L.A.
He was released after five hours. According to the outlet, the potential fine for the charge is up to $2,000, six months behind bars, or both, under California’s penal code.
Monday morning (Feb. 5), the Atlanta representative guested on V103’s Big Tigger Morning Show and seemingly indirectly addressed the arrest after the host questioned the night’s events.

“Didn’t I look good? I was fresh. All black man,” explained the “RUN” performer per Billboard. “Then I went and picked up all the gold… We hit a speed bump, and then we hit back to the party.”
Before being escorted from the event, Killer Mike was awarded all three Grammy Awards that he received nominations for. This includes Best Rap Album for his latest release Michael, as well as both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS” which features Andre 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.
“I remember being in fourth grade and they saying it wouldn’t last two years. I remember being in eighth grade, they said it wasn’t a real art form,” detailed the musician. “I remember being in the 12th grade, my homeroom teacher telling me it’ll never happen. And here it is, 30 years later, look at it happening [..] At 48 years old, I stand here a man full of empathy and sympathy for the things I’ve done, honest in my interpretations of where I’ve been and it connected with thousands of other people and I’m grateful to be holding these records that they don’t ever have.”
