King Charles and Queen Camilla Wish Kate Middleton a Royally Happy Birthday

King Charles and Queen Camilla wished daughter-in-law Kate Middleton a very happy birthday on Tuesday via the palace’s official social media accounts.

Tuesday marks Middleton’s 42nd birthday, and the most senior members of the royal family did their royal duty and paid their respects to the Princess of Wales on Twitter and Instagram.

“Wishing The Princess of Wales a very happy birthday today!” the caption on the post reads, along with a few emojis for added pomp in a social media circumstance.

The king and queen also followed another personal tradition: Marking those celebratory personal milestones of their nearest and, presumably, dearest, with photos of their own big events. The photo accompanying their birthday wishes is a lovely one of Middleton, who is beaming in ceremonial robes and wearing a tiara, but it’s also a lovely one of Charles and Camilla, since it appears to have been taken during coronation festivities in 2023, shortly after the two were crowned. On Prince William’s last birthday in June 2023, his well-wishes were accompanied by a different behind-the-scenes photo of himself and his father at the coronation.

The king and queen weren’t the only ones to publicly mark Middleton’s latest trip around the sun: The social media accounts for Westminster Abbey posted a video of the historic church’s bells ringing in celebration in London Tuesday, detailing that the peals were “542 changes of Stedman Caters followed by a course of Sgurr A’Chaorachain Surprise Royal.”
