Kristian Blummenfelt sets goal of winning Tour de France 2028
Tomorrow in Paris, Kristian Blummenfelt defends his Olympic triathlon title from three years ago, but his ambitions extend far beyond that. It was previously announced that he would most likely join the pro peloton after the Olympics, but now it appears that he does so with great ambitions as well. The ultimate goal: to win the 2028 Tour de France.
This is evident from an interview his trainer Olav Aleksander Bu gave this weekend ahead of the Olympic Triathlon. Speaking with Norwegian broadcaster TV2, Bu reveals that there is indeed a ninety percent chance that Blummenfelt will soon be part of the pro peloton, but also that he will not be riding there ‘just to be part of it’.
In 2025, Blummenfelt will most likely not start in the Tour de France yet, Bu said, but in 2026 he should. That year would then be mainly used for ‘testing’, so that in 2027 the goal could be to win ‘some jerseys’. Another year later, in 2028, the real goal would be to win the yellow jersey and thus the overall classification of the Tour de France.
