Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers will feel a little more special for Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James.
The Northeast Ohio native told reporters his primary focus will be on the Lakers earning a victory but that he’ll also be “taking in all the atmosphere with me being home as well.”
James figures to take the court at some point. The opportunity to have him and his dad, LeBron, on the court at the same time in Cleveland could be too good to pass up.

The 20-year-old’s homecoming may not be a long one, though.
James hasn’t played since opening night, when he logged 2:41 on the floor in a 110-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Cavaliers aren’t an opponent Los Angeles can afford to take lightly. Cleveland has won its first four games, most recently going on the road to beat the New York Knicks 110-104.
James would have his hands full against the Cavs’ backcourt tandem of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland as well. The pair are combining to average 43 points per contest so far, and they’re each shooting 50 percent or better from the field.
Even though he figures to occupy a minor role for the Lakers, NBA fans will nonetheless look forward to his first game in Cleveland for the same reason his pro debut was so highly anticipated.
It will be quite the moment for LeBron to play alongside his son against one of his old teams, particularly the one with which he’s likely to be most closely associated from a legacy standpoint.
