Los Angeles Lakers center Christian Wood has denied domestic violence allegations made against him by an ex-girlfriend.
Per TMZ Sports, Yasmine Lopez accused Wood of grabbing her by the legs and dragging her around in front of the couple’s 10-month-old son in a request for a domestic violence restraining order that was filed last week.
Lopez alleged in the filing that Wood texted her not to report anything that happened because the “Lakers run this town.”
Holly J. Moore, Wood’s attorney, issued a statement about the allegations to TMZ:
“The allegations made by Ms. Lopez against my client, Christian Wood, are completely false and retaliatory in nature. My client was awarded sole legal and sole physical custody of the parties’ minor child by the court last Tuesday for a reason. Ms. Lopez is lashing out at the court’s decision by making sudden outrageous claims against my client, which we are prepared to rigorously defend with substantial evidence.”
TMZ noted Wood was recently granted a three-year restraining order against Lopez and sole custody of the couple’s son after alleging she abused and stalked him, damaged his property on multiple occasions and kept their child from him.
Wood just finished his first season with the Lakers after signing the club as a free agent last offseason. He missed the final 26 games of the regular season due to a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery on March 19.
The 28-year-old recently exercised his player option for the 2024-25 season to remain in Los Angeles, per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
