Lakers predicted to acquire $81 million two-player package from Nets in trade
The Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets have reason to become trading partners soon.
The Nets are one of the most surprising teams in the NBA so far at 4-4.
31-year-old guard Dennis Schröder has never been better. He’s had multiple explosive statistical performances already and is averaging 19.9 points and 7.3 assists per game on a scorching 49.0 percent from three.
Schröder has naturally been linked in trade rumors to the Lakers, a team he’s already played on in two different stints.
Could a third Lakers stint be on the horizon for Schröder?
The Ringer’s Bill Simmons certainly thinks so. On Tuesday, Simmons discussed how the Nets — who are interested in acquiring first-round picks — could build a package around Schröder to pry away a first-rounder from the Lakers.
“Schröder’s playing great,” Simmons said.
“Schröder is a legitimate trade asset … Could they package Schröder and Finney-Smith for the Lakers for the D-Lo contract, Christian Wood, something else and get one of those first-round picks from the Lakers that they’re still hoarding? They probably could.”
Schröder is in the last year of a two-year, $25.4 million deal, while Finney-Smith is in the third year of a four-year, $55.6 million veteran extension (player option in year four).
